Bequests

Bequests are gifts made as part of a will or trust and are one of the most popular and flexible ways to support Robyne’s Nest. The bequest could be included in your will or living trust. A gift by bequest allows you to continue to use the property you are planning to leave to Robyne’s Nest during your lifetime.

The benefits of making a bequest include:

·       You leave a lasting legacy to be remembered

·       You lessen the burden of taxes on your family

·       You may receive estate tax savings

 Types of Bequests

There are several types of bequests, and many wills contain more than one type:

  • Specific bequests—gifts of a specific asset such as real estate, property, such as painting, jewelry, car, or cash (e.g., $10,000 to Robyne’s Nest).

  • Percentage Bequests – gifts of a specific percentage of your overall estate (e.g., you may wish to leave 10% of your estate to Robyne’s Nest).

  • Residual gifts—gifts made after all of the debts and expenses are paid and other bequests are made. These are typically a percentage of the remainder of the estate to charity; (e.g., you may wish to leave 25% of the residual of your estate to Robyne’s Nest).

  • Contingent Bequests – is only fulfilled when certain conditions are met. For example, the will could leave a specific property, such as a house, to a relative, and provide conditions that if that relative is not alive at the time of your death, the house will go to Robyne’s Nest.
