ABOUT SPORTS BASEMENT

Sports Basement started as a one-off shop in a San Francisco warehouse open only on the weekends in 1998, expanding to 11 fully stocked Bay Area locations. After years and years of consideration and research, Sports Basement made one of the biggest decisions in its history: they opened a store in Southern California, specifically in Orange County…Fountain Valley to be exact! Taking over 80,000 square feet of the former Fry's Electronics, they opened their doors in October 2022!

In 2015, Sports Basement was experiencing some major growth, with lots of new programs and ideas flying around. Sports Basement was founded on the knowledge that whatever they accomplish, it’s thanks to the community support. They always worked to give back to local schools, volunteer with local charities and basically giving back with all their hearts. But the founders knew they could do more! They wanted to put the power in the hands of the community itself, and at the same time, they wanted to find a way to help their communities save a little more, too. The Basementeer program was born.

Who they really are is your outdoor-obsessed neighbors with a closet full of your favorite brands and a passion for helping you have the most fun possible. They’ve got outdoor gear and apparel a-plenty, rentals in all sorts of categories, bike and snow shops, lots of couches ('cause they like being comfy and so should you), and plenty of space for you to host your next birthday party. Not kidding. They can’t wait for you to start your next SoCal adventure in the Basement. Heck yeah.

Giving back to the community - Ten percent of Sports Basement’s earnings are redistributed into the community through our Basementeers program, where they partner with thousands of local schools and non-profits throughout their store communities and surrounding areas. Through this program and their partnerships for events, fests, and races, the community has given over 10 million dollars since their beginnings.

The Sandbox - Sports Basement is a hub for local clubs, non-profits, and corporate partners. Their free community space transforms into whatever the community needs it to be…meeting halls, call centers, movie theaters, art galleries, yoga studios; it could even be a wedding venue if you want.
