Student Life Skills - Credit Card Savvy

With the new school year underway, we are resuming our core Robyne’s Nest Student Life Skills classes/series, as well as incorporating new topics. Taught by volunteers with expertise in a given subject area, we are providing our young adults with a well stocked tool kit full of life skills for the real world.

Monday, instructor Matthew Passaquindici, Northwestern Mutual Financial Representative started off our financial series discussing credit card savvy. With a full house of students, Matthew covered everything from how to get a credit card, paying cards off each month, and why building good credit is crucial for one’s future. One of the key takeaways from Matthew, "Use your credit card like a debit card." If you don’t have the cash to pay for something, then you shouldn’t charge it to your credit card either. A huge thank you to Matthew for sharing his time and expertise with our students!

Our Robyne’s Nest mission is about providing resources and support to guide our students in breaking their toxic cycles and becoming self-sufficient, contributing members of the community. Our financial series classes are an important component of this mission, providing awareness, understanding, and knowledge of the importance of financial management, and teaching skills and strategies for our students to learn how to live within their means.
