Read Across America / Dr. Seuss Day

Read Across America Day, also recognized as Dr. Seuss Day in honor of the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, famously known as Dr. Seuss, is an annual event that promotes the joy of reading, especially among children.

The 2019-2020 national average graduation rate for homeless students was 68.2%, nearly 18 percentage points below all students (86.5%). Youth without a high school diploma are about 5 times more likely to experience homelessness later in life.

Literacy is defined as the ability to read and write. Many of our at-risk and homeless students are severely deficient in these skills. Robyne’s Nest provides these teens with the resources and support they need to complete high school, earn their diplomas, and to give our students the opportunity to break their cycles and change their lives.
