Volunteer Highlight Series
Robyne’s Nest recognizes our volunteers are essential in achieving the goal of helping underserved youth. This month Meredith Woodson has been selected for our monthly Volunteer Highlight series.
Meredith, a long-time HB resident, lives in Huntington Beach with her two children, Chloe and Cooper, and their newest family addition, Mina, a rescue dog.
Meredith, Senior Event Director at Love at First Bite Catering (a wonderful and generous supporter of Robyne’s Nest), was originally introduced to our non-profit in 2019. She came onboard to utilize her event planning skills to organize an annual Family Fun Day. Sadly, due to Covid, the event had to be postponed. But, stay tuned, planning is in the works for 2022!
In the meantime, Meredith has found many other roles at Robyne’s Nest for her talent and energy to shine. With her culinary background, she is the perfect candidate to teach cooking classes to our youth, as part of our Life Skills Classes. She also heads the bi-monthly Fresh Food Distribution, a mobile food pantry that distributes fresh fruit, vegetables, and other goods in a farmer’s market-style distribution to the needy students and their families within our school districts.
Along with volunteering for Robyne’s Nest, Meredith has given her time to many other non-profit organizations for over 30 years. She enjoys working with the community and collaborating with like-minded individuals. In 2019 she received her master’s degree in Philanthropic Leadership and her long-term goal is to help non-profits full time. During her free time, she enjoys tennis, camping, and traveling. As a former professional performer and vocal coach, she occasionally participates in local community theatre and performances with a vocal trio, when time permits.
When asked what she would like the community to know about Robyne’s Nest, Meredith shared that Robyne’s Nest is on the front lines, battling what can ultimately turn into some of our most devastating social and community issues. By supporting students on the verge of personal crisis, the non-profit seeks to set these at-risk students on a more secure path where they can thrive and become valuable and contributing community members.
When asked to name her superhero power, she playfully responded, “goofiness.”
However, many that know her would say, “infectious energy.” Fortunately, the Robyne’s Nest team has been on the receiving end of this superhero power due to her dedication and talent. Thank you, Meredith!
