Volunteer Highlight Series

Robyne’s Nest recognizes our volunteers are essential in achieving the goal of helping underserved youth. Debbie Knipe has been selected for our monthly Volunteer Highlight series.

Debbie and her husband Ken have resided in Fountain Valley for 23 years. They share their home with their son Brad and rescue dog, a Lab named Jet. Their daughter, Ashley, lives in San Diego and attends UCSD graduate school for Structural Engineering.

Despite Debbie working long hours managing a Newport Beach law firm, she finds fulfillment in giving back to her community. Robyne’s Nest has been fortunate to call her a volunteer for the past three years. Debbie is an essential part of the team as the Education Stipend Coordinator. In this capacity, she tracks application deadlines, receives prospective student applications, and vets the applicants applying for stipends. Once chosen she monitors students by confirming their enrollment status, ensuring they receive their stipend money, and alerting them of renewable stipend opportunities, to name a few of her important responsibilities. Whenever possible, Debbie can also be counted on to pitch in with whatever extra duties are needed at the non-profit.

During her free time, she enjoys traveling, scrapbooking, and spending quality time with her husband but being a mom has always been her priority and most important job. She says there is nothing more satisfying than having her kids become independent adults finding their way in the world and that is why the Robyne’s Nest mission resonated with her. She appreciates that Robyne’s Nest is supporting our local students and wants to provide students with the resources they need to become self-sufficient, educated adults that thrive and contribute to society.
When asked to name her superhero power, it should come as no surprise that her answer was, “multi-tasking.”
Thank you, Debbie, for sharing your time and talent with Robyne’s Nest! We are very fortunate to have you on board.
