Volunteer Spotlight - Alex Alverez

Alex Alverez, Royne’s Nest Board Member

Robyne’s Nest wouldn’t be able to help so many students in our community without the dedication and support of our volunteers. This month, we are celebrating Alex Alverez who is on our board of directors and also supports our fundraising and housing programs.

We are so lucky that Alex has a sweet tooth and visited Duck Donuts for a snack. “I walked in and Robyne’s Nest was on the wall as the nonprofit of the month. I applied a couple weeks later and here I am” he told us. He quickly became deeply intrenched in the organization and is currently the Board of Directors Treasurer and is a key member of both the Chili Cookoff and Housing Committees.

When asked why he chose Robyne’s Nest he replied, “The mission. I love that we help those in need that people don’t realize need help. Our services are completely tailored to each student so we really make an impact on each of their lives. I like that we are proactive rather than reactive and are teaching these kids how to take care of themselves rather than relying on government or social services programs. I know we are breaking cycles of dependency and that makes me feel good about the time I invest in Robyne’s Nest.”

When Alex isn’t helping Robyne’s Nest, he can often be found at St Simon and Jude Church. He’s active in their SSJ Mens’ Club and Holy Smokes Meat Ministry who provide delicious food for various church events including their annual Fall Festival in October.

We are so fortunate to have Alex on our team and want to thank him for everything he does to help us succeed. If you are interested in learning more about Robyne's Nest and how you can help, click here.
